Surrey - Whalley
active member of the Canadian Communist movement since 1968 when he
first joined the Young Communist League of Canada. Now 62 years old,
father of 2 and grandfather of 2 he continues to be a fighter for social
change, justice and socialism. He has been a candidate for both the
Communist Party of BC and the Communist Party of Canada in numerous
elections.
A computer/electronics technician by training George now works full time
as a transit bus driver in the lower mainland. He is active in his
community and his local union serving as a workplace representative and
job steward. His main political activity centers around trade union
activism, peace activism, anti-racism and environmental issues. George
believes that empowering the working class and their organizations will
benefit all society.
"My goal is to bring about positive economic reform in our country
moving ultimately to establishing a socialist economy where all people
will be free to grow to their highest potential regardless of ethnic
background, gender, economic status or ability. Capitalism denies
opportunities to the vast majority of our people, only under socialism
will this become a reality."
